Accountability

As a publicly-funded hospital in Ontario, HHHS is accountable to our patients and residents, our communities, Ontario Health East, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Long-Term Care.

HHHS Accountability

We support the sharing of information about our budget and improvement plans to ensure ongoing transparency and accountability, as this transparency will help enhance patient safety and strengthen the public’s confidence in our hospital.

Accreditation

Accreditation Canada is an independent, not-for-profit organization accredited by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare, which “provides national and international health care organizations with an external peer review process to assess and improve the services they provide to their patients and clients based on standards of excellence. Accreditation Canada’s programs and guidance have helped organizations promote quality health care for over 50 years.”

Disclosure of Expenses

HHHS is committed to being open and transparent with its stakeholders and the general public. Further to the HHHS' commitment is our compliance with the Public Sector Expenses Review Act, 2009, which was created to strengthen and reinforce accountability, transparency and oversight of government expense claims. As per direction received from the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, HHHS lists the expense reports of all Board Members, the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team as they engage with our stakeholders in managing the local health care system. All expenses are in accordance with the government's Travel, Meal & Hospitality Expenses Directives.
