What to Bring to the Hospital
If possible, patients are asked to bring the following when they come to the HHHS Emergency Department:
- Ontario Health Card (OHIP) number for registration
- A current list of any medications taken on a regular basis or the medications themselves
- Any important medical information (e.g. allergies).
In-Patient Department
Patients are asked to bring the same materials and information as above if they are being admitted to the In-Patient Department.
- Patients being admitted to the In-Patient Department, or their families, will want to also bring the following:
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb/brush, and shaving supplies
- Eye glasses and eye glass case
- Dentures and denture cases
- Night-time breathing equipment used by the patient on a regular basis (e.g. CPAP)
To be more comfortable, patients and their families may also want to consider bringing:
- Good-fitting, supportive footwear
- Housecoats and pajamas
- Reading materials
While the hospital is able to lock small items (ie. glasses) of personal value for a short period of time, HHHS cannot be responsible for items left at the bedside.
As much as possible, patients are encouraged to leave valuables at home, including jewellery, wallets, and money, or send home with family.
